Cheney, Jennifer » Hello!

Hello!

About Me:

Hello!  My name is Jenny Cheney, and I am the counselor at Butler Intermediate School.  Before I became a counselor, I taught fourth grade language arts at Butler.  I love everything about this district including my co-workers who are some of my closest friends, the administrators who go above and beyond for their students and employees, and most importantly, each and every one of the children that I get the pleasure of building relationships with!

I am happily married to my husband, David. We have one son, Aiden, who is in high school now and a miniature schnauzer named London.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and organizing!

I graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2004 where I obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and my teaching certification in 2005.  In 2013, I received my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and in 2018, I received my counseling certification from Angelo State University.

Services I Provide:

As a counselor, I provide many services such as classroom guidance, small group counseling, and individual counseling.  Classroom guidance enables me to reach all of the students.  Most of my classroom lessons are centered around character development and social skills.  Small group counseling allows me to work with children who share the same concerns and issues.  Counseling individually, I am able to work one-on-one with students with a specific concern or issue.  Please remember that a school counselor is only a short term resource for counseling.  If a student requires more extensive attention, I am here to help find those resources.
