Hello! My name is Jenny Cheney, and I am a counselor at both Butler Intermediate School and Cannon Elementary School. Before I became a counselor, I taught fourth grade language arts at Butler. I am proud to say that this is my 14th year with Quinlan ISD! I love everything about this district including my co-workers who are some of my closest friends, the administrators who go above and beyond for their students and employees, and most importantly, each and everyone of the children that I get the pleasure of building relationships with!
I have been married to my husband, David, for 12 years. Together we share one son, Aiden, who is in sixth grade this year.
I graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2004 where I obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and my teaching certification in 2005. In 2013, I received my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and in 2018, I received my counseling certification from Angelo State University.
Services I Provide:
As a counselor, I provide many services such as classroom guidance, small group counseling, and individual counseling. Classroom guidance enables me to reach all of the students. Most of my classroom lessons are centered around character development and social skills. Small group counseling allows me to work with children who share the same concerns and issues. Counseling individually, I am able to work one-on-one with students with a specific concern or issue. Please remember that a school counselor is only a short term resource for counseling. If a student requires more extensive attention, I am here to help find those resources.
